Stova #EventProfs: Stephanie H

Each Friday Stova gets personal and shares one of the many talented and hardworking faces behind the mobile event apps we develop. Sales, marketing, account managers, developers – we share them all, and this week we meet Stova’s ‘account & data support coordinator’, Stephanie H.

Meet Stephanie:

1. What was your first job? Tell us about it:

I started working in the deli at Lee Delauter & Sons in Middletown (basically like a family-owned Sheetz) when I was a senior in high school. (Funny story-I only even started looking for a job because I owed my dad money for my ticket to go see Dave Chappelle live.) I worked there all throughout college when I was home on breaks for a total of 7 years. I wanted a job there more out of convenience than anything since it was only a 5-minute walk from my house. It was an okay job, and I am definitely a sandwich-making expert because of it!

2. Who has influenced you most in your professional path/career?

I can’t say that I’ve had any big influences in my professional life at this point, but I do have an amazing support system through my family and friends. I was a teacher for 3 years before I came to Stova, and when I decided to leave teaching, I had no one in my life telling me I was making the wrong choice or asking me to reconsider. I’m very lucky to have such positive, encouraging people in my life.

3. What’s your favorite part about working in the event technology and events industry?

I have been working in events for less than two weeks now, but I love it! My favorite part so far is being able to provide clients with customization for their events.

4. Looking back, what career advice would you tell your 18-year-old self?

Take a step back and analyze your path. I had always thought I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age, but I never really reflected on why or what the career would be like in reality. I went to UMD, so I had tons of options for majors. I’d tell myself to consider more possibilities and find my passion.

5. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?

I love my dogs, bordering on unhealthy obsession, so my favorite thing to do it hang out with them… and my husband.
