9 Songs That Will Kick Every #EventProfs Derriere

Home - Blog - 9 Songs That Will Kick Every #EventProfs Derriere

We had a brief hiatus on our Thursday playlists for #eventprofs – and oh how the masses cried. (Okay, not really – but every week at Stova’s headquarters, we are fans of suggesting songs for our weekly post, so with much ado, we are bringing it back just for us you!):

The Euphemism Playlist – 9 Songs That Will Kick Your Derriere

1. Mike Doughty – “(I Keep On) Rising Up”

In socialtable’s latest report ‘Benchmarking the Modern Meeting Planner’ – they make a very valid point: “Across every industry – meeting and event planners are some of the hardest working people out there.” Or as Mike Doughty might have said of #eventprofs – they keep rising up!

Sing along:

i’ll keep on rising up, well, i’ll keep on rising up
everyday i’m rising up
i’ll keep on rising up, well, i’ll keep on rising up
everyday i’m rising up

2. Pat Benator – “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”

When life (or events) throws a left hook at you – whether it’s your keynote speaker dropping out last minute, realizing as the food is going out you don’t have enough, or the multitude of other list of things that could potentially go wrong when planning or executing your event – #eventprofs do one thing well – they punch back hard!

Sing along:

Knock me down, it’s all in vain

I’ll get right back on my feet again.

Hit me with your best shot, Fire Away.

3. TobyMac – “Move (Keep Walkin’)”

In baseball, when a player is walking up to home plate to bat, usually what is referred to as a ‘walk-up song’. It’s a motivational, pump the player (and the crowd) up way before batting. Well if every #eventprofs had a walk up song – about ready to swing their next event out of the park – this would be an excellent choice. (Side note: Want to know every baseball player’s walk up songs –  find out here.)

Sing along:

Move, keep walkin’ soldier keep movin’ on

Move, keep walkin’ until the mornin’ comes

Move, keep walkin’ soldier keep movin’ on

And lift your head, it ain’t over yet, ain’t over yet

4. Moby – “Flower”

It’s been said that there is great power of repeated words and thoughts – affirmations anyone?  And this upbeat song by Moby is no different.  Sometimes #eventprofs just need to remember, no matter what happens, let it make you stronger, and keep kicking… derriere.

Sing along:

Bring Sally up and bring Sally down

Lift and squat, gotta tear the ground

5. Alabama Shakes – “Hold On”

There are always going to be times when #eventprofs want to throw the towel in. Whether it’s struggling to comprehend how we will get everything done that we need to do with such little time, or it’s just that everything seems to be working against our planning or execution. Yet in true #eventprofs fashion – what you do best, is holding on – and this is a great song to remember ‘you got to hold on’.

Sing along:

I got so much to do, I ain’t got much time

So, must be someone up above saying,

“Come on, girl! Yeah, you got to get back up!

You got to hold on… Yeah, you got to hold on…”

6. The Rolling Stones – “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”

How could we have a playlist about rocking as #eventprofs and not include this classic by the Rolling Stones? Hard to believe that this song, which was released in 1969, is almost 50 years old and still holds such truth.  No matter what – not matter what efforts, time, or desiring we do – things are going to go wrong in the events industry at times. But with that same amount of effort, time and desire – usually the event goes on and is just as much a hit!

Sing along:

You can’t always get what you want

But if you try sometimes you just might find

You just might find

You get what you need.

7.Ennio Morricone – “The Ecstasy of Gold”

Sometimes there are simply no words – but a song can truly empower, motivate, and uplift us. And this is truly one of those amazing songs that every #eventprofs needs to listen to. The struggle is real… but the power to succeed is even more real.

8. Florence + the Machine – “Shake It Out”

This is one of those roll the windows down, blow off the steam, and remind yourself that no one and nothing is going to get in the way of your events success! If by chance something happens – as every #eventprofs knows, you just have to shake it off and work harder to do better in the future. The time is now – live in the now, and perfect it for tomorrows events!

Sing along:

Tonight I’m gonna bury that horse in the ground

So I like to keep my issues drawn

But it’s always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out

And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh whoa

9. Meghan Trainor – “Me Too”

When the owner of Stova behests that we include a song in the playlist post this week – you obviously concede. Lucky for every #eventprofs – this song truly is a great reminder that you truly do rock. Perhaps in the events industry, we need a little bit more validation when it comes to the success of an event (other than our own feelings). But when it comes to waking up and facing the mirror every day and reminding yourself that you are amazing, “Me Too” is a great way to start.

Sing along:

I thank G-d every day

That I woke up feelin’ this way

And I can’t help lovin’ myself

And I don’t need nobody else, nuh uh

If I was you, I’d wanna be me too

I’d wanna be me too.
